Example 1.

A bar magnet, which is suspended on a thin thread, is placed in a homogeneous magnetic field with a strength of 0.4 T in such a way that the thread is fixed in the centre of gravity, and the magnet is oriented horizontally. Calculate the magnetic moment of the magnet if the rotation of the magnet horizontally through an angle requires a torque of and the magnetic field lines are directed horizontally.

    
Example 2.

A wire is formed into a loop in the shape of a circle with a radius of 15 cm and placed in a homogeneous magnetic field with a density of 0.8 T so that the lines of the magnetic field do not pierce its plane. Calculate the torque with which the magnetic field tries to rotate the loop if a current of 9 A is passed through the wire.

A loop, in the shape of a rectangle with sides 5 cm and 20 cm, is placed in a homogeneous magnetic field with a density of 0.5 T. Calculate the torque acting on the loop if it makes an angle with the direction of the magnetic field forces, and a current of 10 A flows through it.

Calculate the current through the coil if the coil is to rest in a horizontal position.
