A sliding resistor consists of a resistance wire wound on a 40 cm long cylinder and a slider that can be moved over the cylinder winding as shown in the figure.




A 12 V voltage source and an ammeter are connected in series with the sliding resistor. When changing the position x of the slider, we measure the following corresponding currents:



Draw the graph of the resistance of the sliding resistor against the position x of the slider. What would happen if the slider is moved to the 0 cm position?
