Energy and its Conservation problem 52

The motion of a ball with a mass of 500 g which is dropped to fall freely to the ground, is observed. It bounces off the ground and does not reach the initial height.

  • Explain how the energy of the ball changes as it falls.

  • Why doesn't the ball reach the starting height after bouncing off the ground?

  • Calculate the energy change of the ball if it falls to the ground from a height of 2 m and bounces back to a height of 1.5 m.
