Acceleration and Deceleration

Acceleration and Deceleration problem 22

Describe the motions listed below.

  • Which of the motions is uniform and which is non-uniform?

  • Which of the motions is uniformly accelerating and which is uniformly decelerating? Explain why.

  • What is the acceleration if the motion is accelerated?

  • A passenger plane flies over the Atlantic at an altitude of 12.8 km at a speed of 900 km/h.

  • A car is driving behind a truck at a speed of 80 km/h. At some point, the car starts to overtake the truck.

  • A jumper descends the runway of a large jump. Its speed increases steadily and has a speed of 105 km/h at the end of the springboard.

  • A ski jumper stops at the end of a jump.
